Natalie Portman has described her Black Swan sex scene with Mila Kunis as "super awkward".

The Your Highness actress, who won an Oscar for her role as a tormented ballerina in Darren Aronofsky's thriller, insisted that getting up close and personal with a co-star makes any actor uncomfortable, no matter how professional they are.

She told InStyle Australia: "It's super awkward. Anyone who tells you otherwise is not being honest. Or they're a little off."

However, Portman added that she had become more comfortable with the idea of casual sex since filming 'booty-call' rom-com No Strings Attached with Ashton Kutcher.

She said: "I certainly have friends who could deal with that and others who could not. It's something I've seen in high-achieving women - they compartmentalise.

"You've got your work, your friends, your exercise, and your sex. You can tick off those boxes."

Portman previously admitted that she is not opposed to getting naked on camera.

Portman will next be seen in superhero flick Thor, which is released in the UK and US on April 27.
