Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet have only been in two movies together, the other being in 2008's Revolutionary Road, but their bubbling chemistry is one of, if not the sweetest relationship we've seen in all of Hollywood.
And all it took is for Kate's Rose to undress completely in front of Leo's Jack for them to have a close and loving friendship. Bizarre and awkward? Without a doubt yes.
Before Cameron's 2009 film Avatar overcame Titanic as his highest-grossing film of all time, 1997's Titanic garnered over two billion dollars globally. The film would be the one that anyone will call out when someone mentions Leo or Kate. Despite being nearly 23-years-old, Titanic is regarded as one of the greatest romantic and disaster films of all time.
Titanic would be the first film Leo and Kate worked on, so while filming together, they did not exactly hit it off as the best of friends we know and love today. But once they started filming on the first day, that all changed.
Mirror brings up an interesting point, stating that Kate had to "break the ice" by flashing herself in front of Leo on the day they first met. To make the situation even more awkward, but rewarding, it was the very first scene they shot for the film. Kate knew about what would become the most infamous scene in the entire movie, so her intentions, while still embarrassing to her to this day, were good.
After all, you may have noticed that Jack flustered up and said, "Over on the bed," and then quickly corrected himself, "The couch." That line was actually not intended at all, as Leo was supposed to just say, "The couch." However, Cameron decided to keep that take in since he found it funny, but endearing.
So when you think about it, Leo/Jack's reaction in seeing Kate/Rose topless and fumbling the intended line is rather genuine. With one awkward situation out of the way, the two can continue on shooting the film without any barriers between them, except for a few bloopers here and there.
As we all know, the film would become a huge success all around the globe, stacking awards, making both Leo and Kate the most in-demand actors in Hollywood, and steadily building their careers afterward. There are many ways the two have shown their love and respect for another, such as Leo walking her down the aisle at her wedding with her third husband.
While some parts of us would love to see Kate and Leo pursue a romantic relationship, they are very happy with their current ones with Edward Abel Smith (also known as Ned Rocknroll) and Camila Morrone respectively. Our hearts have to go on, but their undeniably strong friendship will remain with us for the rest of time.
